Bio

Born in 1973 in NYC and raised in St. Louis, I was exposed to photography before I could walk, strapped in a papoose to my mother’s back while she worked in her darkroom. I began taking pictures at a young age with decidedly mixed results, but eventually got my act together and in 1992 moved to Houston to pursue a degree at Rice University. A National Merit Scholar, I studied photography under Geoff Winningham, graduating summa cum laude in 1996 with a BA in Art and English. I also won the Louis Sudler Prize in the Arts, a grant awarded annually to the top graduating student within the disciplines of Art, Music and Architecture—I was the first photographer to win the prize.

My images are now housed in half a dozen public collections, I have received several awards and fellowships, and my work has been featured in numerous publications and over 50 exhibitions throughout the country. I currently live in Kansas City, Missouri with my girlfriend Amy and our four pets, working as a photographer, master printer, and rare book dealer.
